RECOGNITION OF BRIXHAM COLLEGE TEACHER AND TWO ROTARIANS OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF BRIXHAM FOR SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF NEW INTERACT CLUB IN BRIXHAM – 26TH JULY 2020
On the 26th of July 2020, The Rotary Club of Brixham held a virtual presentation for Paula Hislop, a teacher at Brixham College, to recognise the sterling work she has done in leading the successful formation of the new Interact Club of Brixham for students of the College.
Rotary Club of Brixham President, Adrian Laurie, presented Paula with a Paul Harris Fellowship Certificate and Pin for her role in setting up the Interact Club and bringing it to Charter status a year ago. A Paul Harris Fellowship Certificate and Pin are awarded for services to the community and here it was linked to her role in setting up and her continued involvement with the Brixham Interact Club.
Also receiving awards were retired Rotarian, Geoff Sonley, who was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship Certificate and Pin for his role in helping set up the Interact Club with Paula. Also in attendance was Rotarian Peter Bush who was presented with his second Paul Harris Fellowship Pin for his work within the community of Brixham and also for assisting Paula.
President, Adrian Laurie, who presented the awards, said “It gives me the greatest pleasure to present these awards to Paula, Geoff and Peter who have worked so hard in forming the Interact Club of Brixham that has become a success story in the family of Rotary.” He continued “Social distancing had to be maintained for the presentation and I am sure the new Interact Club at the College will go from strength to strength.”
Paula Hislop said “This wonderful award was a total surprise to me; I had been told that the Rotary Club had something to give me and just thought I was going to Geoff Sonley’s house to collect some papers for the coming school year. To be recognised in this way by the Rotary organisation has made all the hard work in getting the club launched all worthwhile. I can’t wait for the new term to start and tell all the Interactors how we have been recognised.”
